Dear Sir,

It is my great pleasure to inform you that students of NIT Rourkela have qualified for the BAJA SAE ASIA 2010 to be held in Pithampur, Indore (M.P.) during 29th Jan to 31st Jan 2010. SAE Baja is a national event where teams of different institute compete with each other, run their ATV (All Terrain Vehicles) on rough tracks of Pithampur. The vehicle undergoes endurance testing, acceleration, design, braking, and durability testing along with cost and marketing analysis. This event mainly enriches the technical potentialities of the students and prepares them to be the best engineers of the Nation.

For details about BAJA SAE ASIA visit: www.bajasaeindia.org

List of institutes qualified for final event: http://www.bajasaeindia.org/downloads/MAIN_REV1.pdf

Our NITR team “Black Mamba” comprising of 17 dedicated and enthusiastic students had to clear different stages: Telephonic Interviews, presentations of vehicle aspect in Kolkata and a design report on Ansys before they qualified for the final round i.e. Physical Baja. They are among the four teams selected from Eastern India. They have designed the essential aspects of vehicle (i.e. Steering system, suspension, brakes, chassis, transmission and other ancillary components of the car). They delivered a beautiful presentation at Kolkata and were appreciated by the experts from Mahindra & Mahindra for their innovative ideas incorporated in the vehicle. After crossing all such hurdles these enthusiastic young engineers are almost at the edge to start fabricating their vehicle inside the N.I.T. campus.

To begin with they need financial assistance to fabricate the vehicle. The whole budget has been finalized to Rs 2.5 lacs approximately which includes the procurement of materials, travelling charges, Transportation, Registration fees etc. The institute has encouraged the students by paying the registration fees of Rs 35,000/-. Since the budget is quite high and expenses are unavoidable we seek your support in terms of finance. No doubt money is an essential aspect for participating in this event, but it is for the first time in NIT Rourkela such things are going to happen. These dedicated young engineers are giving their best effort to make it a great success and must have even forgotten about their placements.

You have shown your kind support in the past and this time the students need all your support in terms of financial as well as technical assistance to construct their dream vehicle. A separate bank account “BAJA SAE NITR” account no: 30856910161 has been opened at SBI, NIT Campus branch which is operated by both faculty advisors Prof. D.R.K. Parhi and Prof S.Murugan for the proper monetary transaction.

I wish your timely help, guidance and blessings to the students will bring pride to our institute.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Sincerely

Dr. Dayal R. Parhi
